The Design Plus competition rewards future-proof products, which demonstrate an optimum combination of sustainability, aesthetic appeal and functionality and is one of the most prestigious and well-known awards in Germany.

ISH 2023 focuses on solutions for a sustainable future. In the heating sector, this refers to innovations that cut energy consumption in buildings, increase energy efficiency and take greater account of renewable energies. In the sanitary ware sector, sustainability is achieved through water and energy-saving products, environmentally friendly industrial production, sustainable materials and durable design.
A total of 133 entries were received from 88 companies from 23 countries for the award. The jury of four experts evaluated all the entries in terms of innovation, ecology and design. The winning products are characterised by sensitive design and reduction to the technologically essential.
The jury selected 32 products that will receive the "Design Plus" label and be on display in an exhibition during ISH. The awards ceremony for the winners will take place 13 March 2023 in the Hot Spot Water in Hall 3.1 at 3:30 p.m. in Frankfurt am Main. The award-winning products will then be on display in an exhibition in the immediate vicinity.

To avoid the use of glycol (which is harmful to the environment) in monobloc HP systems, Caleffi has developed iStop: an antifreeze valve that is eco-friendly and entirely mechanical. If the electric supply is cut off, iStop drains the water from the circuit when its temperature reaches 3 °C, thereby preventing the components from freezing. The outside air sensor, on the other hand, prevents unwanted valve operation while the HP is running in cooling mode.
